I have been listening to some videos by Jeff Benner of AHRC and he covers this interesting verse in Deut 32:8 which he says was changed from Sons of God to Sons of Israel due to theological bias as they ddid not like man being sons of God.

Here is a link to the Youtube video with the timestamp to the position in the video.

If this change had not been made then maybe we would not have this nonsense with the Angels having sex with women that many believe based on Genesis which Tim covers in great detail to address this idea.

The church as a whole in my opinion needs to understand at least on a basic level textual critism and how our bibles have come to pass and why we need to have more of a balanced view.

Jeff does a really good job in this short video series on how Hebrews thought and thus wrote and what we need to be careful about. I did not know that the Hebrews/Jews are classified as Orientals based on their way of thinking and thus writing and thus are more like the Chinese and Japanese than us westerners.

Are there are more of these important text changes that would help address wrong understanding of the Old Testament.

As we know one error in understanding leads to another.

I realise I have not asked a specific question here, but really sharing something that I hope will be useful for someone in the future. I have been reading some books on textual critism and have a copy of the NET bible and it is really giving me a more balanced view of scripture as a whole. It allows a person to be more open to other understandings of what the scriptures are really saying and that we need to be careful how we support what we believe.

      Thanks
      Raymond
