ParticipantTim, after listening to your new teaching on “One God & One Lord” a question came to mind. This is concerning what you said regarding the inevitable shunning by those that strongly hold to Trinitarianism. I have recently become a “member” of a Baptist church…definitely Trinitarian. It actually took us over a year to make this decision simply because I felt I would not be allowed to teach within the church because I do not follow that doctrine. Over time there my wife and I would share that we were no longer Trinitarians nor did we follow some of their other doctrines any more.
However, we developed a strong love for the people in the congregation and for the Pastor and his wife and have become very good friends. Because of a discussion I had with a member regarding my disbelief in Trinitarianism it prompted her to ask the Pastor in our small group to explain it. It was the same illogical “evidence” as I have heard before. And now (I am assuming because of the beliefs I now hold) he is starting a series entitled “why it matters” which I am sure will speak to the Baptist doctrinal beliefs.
I love this local body of believers and I want to be a part of ministering here. I told the pastor upon becoming a member that it was not my intent to undermine his teaching or stir up trouble because I feel that the unity of the body is so important to God. But I also said if someone was interested in why I believe how I do I would definitely share the Scriptures.
Do you feel that this is the correct godly attitude to have? Is it possible to worship in unity even if certain doctrinal views are different? I feel as long as I am not rejected by them that I definitely want to be a part. Should my goal be to start a home fellowship that possible could draw people away from the church and cause disunity?Thank you, Tim

ParticipantTim,
You must be extremely busy with everything you are doing. Thank you for your continued ministry. I believe I have found my answer in your teaching of “Unity and the Fundamentals”. Thank you for the wealth of knowledge you have made available.

KeymasterDave,
Sorry for the delay. Yes, I have been extremely busy. The articles you found explain my position. I do not think you should create division. As long as you are tolerated, there is no problem continuing to fellowship, IMO. However, unless you remain totally silent on this topic, you probably will eventually be asked to leave. IMO, your best approach would be to have conversations only with the pastor and other leaders elders or deacons. If you confine your discussions to them, and let them know that this is what you are doing, they may not feel as threatened and be more willing to have frank discussions.
