BBI II-B #3 God announces His Son, Wisdom
Not only did Paul refer to Jesus as “the Wisdom of God” and the “hidden Wisdom,” but Luke, Paul’s companion, called Jesus “the Wisdom of God” in his Gospel. Luke’s Christology comes from Paul.
In all three synoptic Gospel accounts of Jesus’ baptism, the Father declared from heaven that His Son was “Wisdom” of Proverbs 8:22-31 & Prov. 30:4. Thus all of the Gospel accounts have preexistence language concerning Christ, identifying Him as God’s Agent in creation. Those with ears to hear will hear and accept the testimony that God gave of His Son.
1 John 5:9-10 (NASB) “If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for the witness of God is this, that He has borne witness concerning His Son. The one who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness that God has borne concerning His Son.”
