BBI II-A: #13 Jesus literally & personally came down from heaven (Jn. 6)
In John 6, Jesus stated more than once that He came down from heaven. He compared Himself to the manna which God provided for Israel in the wilderness. The difference was that the manna from heaven sustained the Israelites temporal lives, but Jesus provides immortality. Trinitarians have no real difficulties in this chapter. However, Unitarians who deny that the Son of God existed before His birth from Mary have plenty of difficulties in this chapter. The typical explanation by Unitarians is to claim that since the “bread” from heaven is metaphor, since Jesus was not literally bread, so also is His coming down from heaven not literal. There are serious problems with this explanation, including Jesus use of personal pronouns, “I came down from heaven,” as well as HIs statement to His disciples in vs. 62, “What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where HE was before?”

This is really clearly laid out in the video Tim. I loved this teaching as it is something I can share with BU’s. Thanks Raymond
