Supposedly he is going put together a series of discussions with leaders of both camps on this topic for public viewing. I don’t know how much good it will do but I did encourage him on a FB message to perhaps contact you Tim. But my comment on discussion with another brother on FB was this.
The ministries that are built around “Hell” are not going to let it go. Their whole career and everything they’re known for is built on it. Take Good Fight Ministries. They entertained the idea of inviting T.Warner to the Revelation debate/discussion special they had a few years ago but when they found Tim doesn’t believe scripture teach we are a ghost in a flesh suit he was shunned and they wouldn’t even respond to him anymore. And that’s how these things go. Kirk Cameron is going to find himself blackballed and put on the same list. These “christian” organizations will either bully him back into the orthodox line or turn their backs on him.
In my own understanding I define Christian Zionism as those who support the current government of Israel with the misguided belief that the Bible states if one desires Gods blessing, the government of Israel must be blessed. Also, that the land of Israel belongs to the Jews through Abraham and that the Balfour Agreement of 1917 and fulfillment in 1948, giving the land of Palestine to the Jews is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
Christian Zionism also falsely states that the Jews are Gods chosen people and that Jews and Christians together worship God in sincerity and truth.
When Christian Zionist are confronted with biblical truth such as Paul explaining that the promise of blessings are to Abraham and that the promise of the land inheritance to Abraham’s seed is seed singular and that seed is Christ; that the chosen people of God are those joined to Him only through Christ; that if you do not have the Son, you do not have the Father; that the natural branches have been broken off and that wild branches have been grafted in by God; that Jews are still under the curse; these same Christian Zionist will in turn label biblical Christians as antisemites and bigots.I did not know the critical text read that in Jude 1:5. I use Charles Van der Pool’s apostolic polyglot which is based on the vaticanus, which shows the same reading. Definitely would put a hitch in a Unitarian step.
I didn’t realize it was only after the 14th century. I did know that Tertullian coined the term trinity in it’s modern sense. I had not thought of his arguments with Arian. You are absolutely correct! He most certainly would have used that verse had it existed. Thank you very much.
I would really love to hear your thoughts on all the different manuscript “strains” and how you put weight to them like the Majority Text vs Critical Text. For ex. things like, your opinion on is the Byzantine closer to the originals argument, your thoughts on debated topics like the Pericope Adulterae, or how you go about your method of translation of the LGV. I find it absolutely fascinating and it comes out just a drop at a time in your BBI lessons and I find myself wanting to hear more from you on those topics. Maybe some day.
I also can’t wait to read your translation on Matthew and Mark.
I just found out the Byzentine Text also does not support the reading. The World English Bible is based on it.
