ParticipantTim, I have been having a discussion with a friend who brought up a scriptural concept I had not heard before. He said flesh and blood is different than flesh and bone in the Bible. Flesh and blood can not inherit Gods Kingdom but Flesh and Bone can. The point being our resurrected bodies will be flash and bone, without blood.
I thought it over and have not been able to raise any scripturally based objections. I of course considered the logical objections that blood is required for life, but then decided to just consider what I could recall in the scriptures on this matter.
Christs resurrected, his body still had the holes in his hands and feet and the hole in his side. No blood was mentioned coming out of his body. He spilled his blood once and for all time, all of it. Now in his resurrected body, his life is sustained by Gods Spirit. He was and will be capable of eating and drinking after this resurrection but this is not necessary for him to have life. He ate with his disciples and will drink and eat in the Kingdom as well. This is not what is required for life though for him.
The dry bones in Ezekiel mentioned tendons and flesh coming together and then receiving the breathe of life but no mention of blood.
Is it possible our bodies in this creation are sustained by blood, since the life is in the blood (Lev 17:11), but in resurrected bodies, our life will be sustained purely by Gods Spirit?
The eating from the tree of life will be a sign of continued obedience and a privilege to have access to but just like Christ, the life force will be by Gods Spirit and not any blood running through out bodies. Just wanted to get your thoughts on this.
Here is a thread I was looking at, I don’t agree with some of the latter conclusions but still an interesting read in part.
“I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.” 1 Corinthians 15:50
We know that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom but can flesh and bones?
“See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”” Luke 24:39 *** Question
Does the Bible distinguish between flesh and blood and flesh and bones? What or who or what grouping do each represent?
