One of the most important New Testament passages for showing the errors of Trinitarianism is the following:
1 Cor. 8:4-6 (NKJV)
4 Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), 6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
This passage is fatal to the Trinitarian concept that “one God” refers to three Persons. There can be no doubt that “one God” in this passage is no different than the many “one God” statements in the Torah and especially in Isaiah. This verse identifies the “one God” as the Father alone. It emphasizes this by adding that there is “one Lord” (Master) who is Jesus Christ.
This passage is often used by Unitarians in their argumentation against Trinitarianism. Yet the same passage is just as problematic for them because it teaches that the Son was God’s Agent through whom He created all things and through whom He redeems the creation. The NLT paraphrases this accurately as follows:
1 Cor. 8:4-6 (NLT) 4 So, what about eating meat that has been offered to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god and that there is only one God.
5 There may be so-called gods both in heaven and on earth, and some people actually worship many gods and many lords.
6 But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we live for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life.
